Instructions stated to flush filter for 3-5 minutes before use. I flushed for over an hour and still the water was not drinkable. You get what you pay for. I will try a different brand in about 3-4 months and see how it compares. It is a good value. I just do not hve any experience with other filters to compare it, too.
