GE GFSS2HCYSS 22.2 cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Reviews
We like our GE "French Door" fridge. It looks good and works fine. But don't think of getting it without the insurance plan. We've had to replace the central "brain". We've had to replace a door latch. We are getting ready now to call for a new shelf and crisper track because both have broken. I would guess that without the insurance we would soon have put as much in repairs as we paid for the fridge. However, ours was a brand new model, and perhaps they have worked some of the bugs out. We love it. We really have no complaints. Just be sure you take the insurance when it's offered. And you can be sure we'll be renewing our policy when it expires. The service has been excellent.

This unit has 4 plastic rollers that are fixed in place and can not be adjusted. There are 2 leveling legs on the front of the unit only. Very frustrating to try and level this unit with only 2 legs. If you already have perfectly level floors then this may work for you, but other than using shims it can not be leveled side to side or back to front.

We have had this fridge for less than 1 year and so far we have had the repairman out 3 times. This is the most tempermental fridge I have ever owned. The previous review is right - do not even THINK about buying this without a service plan. So far it has frozen (and ruined) lots of produce. Once that got fixed the icemaker overflowed water into the bottom of the freezer (until I shut off the water). The spicket freezes where you cannot get water out of it (in the fridge) and you have to jack up the temperature just to get it to thaw so that you can get water from it again. When the guy was out last week he replaced the whole ice maker. Once he left it started making this horrible sound like it is trying to make ice or dump ice but cannot. So I'm waiting on them to come out AGAIN to fix that. HORRIBLE - do NOT buy it.

We have a LOT of particulates in our water and this flter does a fantastic job. Unfortunately performance drops quickly, reducing flow to an annoyingly slow drizzle. If you have a lot of particles and are not concerned with cysts etc, you may want to downgrade to the 8171413 which is also effective with chlorine and lead reduction but seems to last far longer before flow is restricted.

I replace my filter every year. I have purchased this filter every year, as it is the one that originally came with my fridge. Easy to install. Would recommend it to anyone. Nice price and quick delivery.

This review is from: Taylor Digital Stick On Refrigerator Thermometer (Kitchen)
Recently purchased a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer and was curious as to the temperature in each compartment. Moistened the suction cup per instructions and affixed it to the freezer door's interior, set at the recommended mid-range temperature. Checked the temp the next morning and it registered 17 degrees fahrenheit. Had to take a plastic knife to pry the suction cup off of interior freezer door. I next placed this thermometer inside the refrigerator door, about chest level above the one- gallon storage shelf for easy viewing. Again with refrigerator temp set at the recommended mid-range temperature, I returned to check on the temp the following morning and it registered from 38.7 to 41.5 degrees fahrenheit depending on late night door openings. Periodically repeated this phase of refrigerator testing for a month to confirm the absence of sporadic readings. No problem with the suction cup dislodging from the interior... Read more

This review is from: Taylor Digital Stick On Refrigerator Thermometer (Kitchen)
My two main gripes are that (1) the suction cup tends to work rather poorly at cold temperatures, which is something you'd think they would have considered for this particular device, and (2) that it can be very hard to read the digits at an angle or in the refrigerator lighting, and if you remove it to read it, it will quickly fog up and also start heating almost immediately, resulting in an inaccurate reading. The second point is really mostly a nitpick, as it would be hard to fix this without going to a more expensive backlit LCD display, but the first point is a fundamental flaw.

This is a cheaply designed thermometer, the LCD screen is see-through, but the background screen color is nearly the same shade of grey as the letters making it difficult to read against a dark background. It takes a reading every 2.5 minutes, and it took 20 minutes to register a change of 3 degrees. The accuracy seems to be +/- 0.5 - 1.0 degree F. Has a power switch and F/C button under a sealed rubber flap.
